UK Community Meeting

 I am attending Day 1 (today) of the UK annual January meeting of the nuclear physics community.  It's a chance for us all to meet up and discuss a combination of latest committee updates, and latest science tied to major funded projects.  Also scheduled are some slots for new members of the community to introduce themselves and their work, and a session with the branch of the government funding council responsible for nuclear physics.

Thanks to the London-centric nature of infrastructure, the meeting is held in central London, despite the centre of mass of the community probably being somewhere much further north.  It works well for me, living as I do in London's scenic commuter belt.

For me, the main benefit of being here has heen the chance to discuss various ongoing organisational community things with other people here, but I've also enjoyed hearing the broad physics project updates.  Here's a photo of one of the physics talks by new community members (Tom Day Goodacre):
